I worked in a machine shop several years back and we normally would use a carbide drill bit at a slower than normal speed. The biggest problem you have is getting the broken off end where you need to drill flat enough to do so.
Removing BROKEN drill bits, that is! First off, and you probably don’t want to hear this – especially if you have a broken bit – try to prevent breakage in the first place. Be sure to lubricate your drill bits and burs with either Bur Life stick or liquid, Beeswax or oil.. Secondly, the best way to avoid broken bits is to lower the rpm of the tool you are using.
I had a similar problem with a broke carbide in a hole. I solved the problem by using a friends punch press. I punched out the piece that contained the carbide. Then I punched out a second piece as a blank and soldered it into place and started again. Might work for you as well. Good luck.

Feb 27, 2018· Just recently I broke a 1/8" carbide drill about .625 deep in a hole. I was able to remove it by using a .125" ballnose end mill at 2078 rpm, 3 ipm,.0015 axial doc, with a circular path .010" oversize per axial stepdown. Lots of thru coolant and flood coolant.

Jan 29, 2012· I purchased carbide burrs for my Dremel to grind out a broken off screw extractor in a M6 (<1/4" dia) screw threaded into aluminum. Proceeded carefully and patiently. Worked perfectly.
The extractor bit material is very hard so the usual drill bits (hss, titaniumcoated, and colbalt) will simply spin on top of the broken extract bits and I felt that carbide burrs for a die grinder would be too large for the task and would mess up the threads of the holes.
However these symptoms can also indicate broken or missing carbide tips, a dirty blade, a warped or bent blade, or alignment problems. Assuming that the saw and fence are properly adjusted, one can focus on the blade and rule out some possible problems.
