The Holy Quran states: And they ask you about the Rooh (Soul). Say: The Rooh is among the affairs of My Lord. And you have not been granted anything of knowledge except a little” (Surah 19, verse 85) This verse tells us that the soul is Divine because it comes from Allah, and it further indicates that not much of the soul is known to man. At many places in the Holy Quran, where Allah speaks of the creation of Adam, mention is made of My Rooh, for example, And I blew into him (Adam) part of My Rooh or Soul. (Surah 15) This further enforces the belief that a soul is Divine in its origin. There is, of course, a difference in the soul of Adam and the soul of the rest of Allah’s creation, in that the former came directly from Allah, while the latter was created. |

Dissecting the spirituality of Muslims to unravel underlying causes to our moral decadence is ever on the increase, and with good reason. One of the major challenges facing Muslims today is the ability to maintain an Islamic identity and spiritual wellbeing in an environment given to merry-making, frivolity, and amusement. This challenge becomes even greater during festive seasons, such as the period that has just passed. It is inevitable that we Muslims find ourselves sucked into this vortex of amusement and entertainment. This is almost like a whirlwind that spins through our environment, snapping up all who happen to be in its path. In such a harsh spiritual environment, we run the risk of serious damage to our iemaan. |

Styling themselves ahl-e-quran or ‘people of the Quran’ the rejecters of Hadith are anything but friends of the Quran. By rejecting the hadith of Our Master and Mentor, Hazrat Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) the claimants to ahl-e-quran are in fact a’daa-ul Quran or enemies of the Holy Quran. |

Election fever in South Africa is running high, and soon millions of people will be casting their ballots to decide who governs the country for the next five years. In this article we intend highlighting the difference between the Islamic form of leadership and leadership as defined by Western, kuffar law. The Shar’ee method of electing a leader differs vastly from that of non-Muslims. In the democracies of the Kuffar that are in vogue today, the masses are called upon to elect a leader of their choice. They do this by putting an ‘x’ on the ballot paper next to the name of the candidate or individual they believe is the right man for the job. This is called a vote. The party who obtains a large majority of the votes becomes the government of the day.
